For an art residency of 2 to 3 months for 1 or 2 artists or art students working together at Art in Lov Residence in Loviisa, Finland. The residency period should take place between June and August 2024.
The residency is free, travel expenses are not covered. The work of the aritst is to be self funded and self-produced. The residence is open for contemporary artists from any field of art including both visual and performing arts.
The artist(s) will be working independently on an art project that will be shown publicly during the work or at an event in the end of the residency. A final product is not demanded, work shown can be work in progress, examples from artistic research or a demo version of a larger project. We encourage interaction with the local community and workshops or similar activities are invited but not demanded. For production of the work shown publicly we are able to cover expenses up to 300€ (by presenting expenses receipts). During the residency project we wish to see some activity on our social media accounts at least once a week and a final report including text and visual material is also required.
As this is a summer holiday residence, artists are also invited to spend part of the time in residence relaxing and enjoying summer in Loviisa.
Loviisa is a small town on the coast of Finland, a swedish-finnish bilingual community with a small but dynamic art scene. The residency is in an shared apartment in the city center with 3 bedrooms and a shared studio space. Selected artist(s) will have access to 1 or 2 bedrooms there will be one other artist staying in the residence apartment at the same time. Artists are allowed to bring family providing the space will be enough for you. Pets are allowed but must be mentioned in application. Unfortunately the space is not wheelchair accessible.
